Recording A Song: Behind the Glass

In this workshop you will learn modern techniques and tools used in music production such as the Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), microphones, pre-amps & consoles, signal flow, recording bed-tracks & overdubs, and mixing techniques. From these three days you will develop introductory skills to conduct a basic recording session with a musician/artist, learning how to communicate and work with them to successfully record and mix their song.

This workshop delivers basic musical ideas and theories to help you create and write your own music. Topics and ideas are introduced using well-known examples before giving you the chance to try them out on your own Digital Audio Workstation. We also welcome you to bring your own instrument to work with. On completion, you’ll leave with a better understanding of how music works and the skills necessary to create your own songs.

Dolby Atmos is an emerging Immersive audio format now used in Sound for Film & TV, Game Audio, Music Production and Podcast Production. This workshop will teach you the concepts of Dolby Atmos, the Dolby Atmos Renderer software as well as workflow integration with a Digital Audio Workstation (Pro Tools).
You will learn how to configure both Pro Tools and the Dolby Atmos Renderer, troubleshoot communication errors, and “best practice” techniques in audio-post production.
If you’re interested in using Dolby Atmos in your production work, this workshop is a great start! Previous experience with Dolby Atmos is not necessary but we recommend participants have experience with audio production and the use of DAW software.

We developed our Youth Workshops to offer a unique opportunity for young individuals to explore their interests in a professional environment. Allowing them to gain valuable insight and hands-on experience in various branches of audio production.
